Cisco's Packet-over-T3/E3 network module for the Cisco 2600, 3600, and 3700 series offers the first software-configurable T3/E3 product from Cisco. This flexible network module allows the customer to switch between T3 and E3 applications with a single Cisco IOS command. This feature provides customers with unparalleled investment protection by allowing the service provider or enterprise customer to stock only a single product that can be deployed internationally.

The Cisco 2-Port Enhanced Capability Clear Channel Port Adapters are enhanced two-in-one versions of the earlier Clear Channel T3 and E3 port adapters. These products assist network implementers by minimizing sparing of both T3 port adapters for the United States and E3 for European and Asian implementations. They provide a new software architecture that allows selecting either T3 or E3 by way of software configuration coupled with a more powerful chipset that lowers CPU usage. The port adapters lower CPU usage by more than 15 percent.

The Cisco VIC3-2E/M is a two-port E&M voice/fax interface card used to connect to PBX or key system as tie lines.

The FXS (foreign exchange station) port is used to connect directly to phones, fax machines, and key systems. Generates battery polarity reversal and caller ID. The DID (direct inward dial) port is used to provide off-premises DID connection from central office.

Enhanced FXS port is able to connect directly to phones,fax machines,and key systems with loop length up to 11,000 feet (3.3 km). The card generates battery polarity reversal and caller ID. Also provides off-premises DID connection from central office and serves incoming calls from the PSTN.

Cisco voice interface card (VIC) supports voice technologies. VIC can be installed in interface card slots on supported Cisco access routers or in 1- or 2-slot voice network modules that are installed in network module slots on supported Cisco access routers.

The enhanced performance of Gigabit Ethernet in Cisco ISRs to enable new applications and services, as well as provide greater capacity for existing inter-VLAN routing and bridging capabilities. Additionally, branch offices can now connect to metropolitan-area networks (MANs).
